A barbecue is all about the meat, so it’s essential to buy the right tools and accessories. We wanted to share our top three tips that’ll help you choose the best knife for your next barbecue.  
 

 

1. Choose models with smooth blades instead of saws. This ensures a precise cut, without interfering with the texture and tenderness of the meat. Here are different types of materials used in blades: 

– Stainless steel: they are resistant to rust and corrosion, easier to clean, and can be purchased at an affordable price.

– Ceramic: they are easy to use, do not stain or rust, and do not retain odors. They also ensure an exact cut!

– Damascus steel: one of the best materials. Knives with this blade are robust, durable, and very precise. The process of manufacturing Damascus steel greatly influences the knife’s value, but the investment is worth it!



2. Find a knife with the best handle. The knife handle needs to be comfortable with a good grip to help guide you when cutting. Here are different types of handles:

– Plastic: these are more affordable and are easy to clean! This prevents the proliferation of bacteria and fungi. When wet, plastic handles, can be a little slippery to hold, so just keep that in mind.

– Stainless steel: these handles can also be slippery when wet, but that would be the only disadvantage. They have high durability, are easy to clean and manage, and still have modern and elegant designs.

– Wood: these handles are a fan favorite, as they are not slippery when wet and are very light and practical.



3. Purchase a knife set. The size of the meat will determine which knife you’re going to need. For example, large pieces require large knives. Ideally, every pitmaster would have a complete knife set that can be used for every barbecue.

 

 

4. Extra tips: Some steel blade knives undergo heat treatment, a cooling and heating process that exposes the blade to extreme temperatures to bring more strength to the material.
